Corporation of Chennai invites fresh bids for 64 Modern Bus shelters on BOT basis

23rd March'09, Chennai Corporation of Chennai (CoC) invites private sector participation from National, International Independent firms/Joint Ventures/Lead Partners of consortiums to submit their bids on BOT (Build Operate and Transfer) basis for construction, operation and maintenance of 64 Bus Shelters that are estimated to be installed in Zone VII of Chennai along major transportation corridors and bus routes.

Officials close to the development in an official communiqué with Outdoor Asia Magazine have confirmed the news as they said, “The Corporation of Chennai (CoC) plans to develop street furniture in CoC area with private sector participation in Zone -VII under Package- 5 comprises replacement of existing Bus Shelters in Zone - 7 as designated by Corporation of Chennai numbering 64 nos. Bus Shelters with new user and environment friendly design on BOT (Build, Operate & Transfer) basis.”

Adding to that the officials further informed us on the eligibility criteria. They said, “The bidding firm shall have achieved a minimum annual financial turnover of IN Rs.90 million for any two years during the preceding five financial years; the bidding firm should also have average total liquid assets for a minimum of IN Rs.14 Million for the preceding three financial years. Apart from that the firms/joint ventures/lead partners of consortium shall have completed/under execution at least 25 numbers of Bus Shelters in India/ Abroad.”

The last date for the submission of the bids is April 17, 2009, and prior to that a pre-bid meeting is also scheduled to be held on April 3, 2009 at 3PM at the office of the Superintending Engineer, Bus Route Roads Department, Corporation of Chennai.

 

As per our sources, “The Bank of Baroda officials are looking for an agency that can give them the coverage on Glow sign boards, Hoardings at Foot over bridges, Railway stations, Bus Terminals, Airports, Pole kiosks, flower pots along the road dividers, Wall paintings on major rural areas of Bihar, Orissa and Jharkhand states.”

Adding to that our sources also informed us about the two bid system, where in the bank officials, have asked the advertising agencies to, send their proposal for monthly/ quarterly/six monthly and yearly basis. The two way bid includes--

1. Technical Bid: Rates should not be mentioned in technical bid in any way and only technical specifications, exact locations, terms & conditions and other technical details should be given.
2. Price bid: It should contain rates, taxes etc.only.

The tender however also has some clauses, of which the two most important one’s are- 1) Used flexes will have to be purchased by the vendor and 2) The vendors will be responsible for maintenance of the display through out the contracted period and will take all necessary permission / approval from local authorities for the same.
