Hype Integrated Communications to digitize the Mumbai local on the Western Line

17th December 08 Mumbai Commuters on Western Railway (WR) can look forward to some relief from long, exhausting train rides; with WR all set to equip its local trains with LCD television screens. As a pilot project, five trains will be fitted with six LCD screens per compartment, making Western Railway the first in the history of Indian Railways to install LCD TVs on local trains. The tender has been awarded to Hype Integrated Communication for a period of five years

Speaking exclusively to Outdoor Asia, Western Railway, Senior Public Relation Officer (PRO) Shyam Sunder Gupta said, “A maintenance contract has been given to Hype Integrated Communication for installation of LCD screens in five EMU rakes. Of these, two will be nine-car rakes and three will be 12-car ones. The company will give an assured sum of rupees as revenue to the Railway authorities. The first train is expected to be flagged off later this month.”In yet another exclusive conversation with Jignesh Sharma, Co-founder and Chief Executive Officer, Hype Integrated Communication. He said, “We are delighted to win this tender and are positive to spread the smile on the faces of both the commuters and the ad-fraternity with our ‘Smile TV' which will be installed inside the trains that will commute on the Western Line.”
